Halstead Community Fridge is a local community project set up to reduce food waste. This is something which was first introduced in the UK by Jamie Oliver but has spread widely in Europe. There are many community fridges in Spain and Germany. Local supermarkets, cafes and allotment holders donate surplus food.
The Halstead fridge is run by a number of volunteers. Recently some of them have moved away, and to keep the project going we need volunteers to open the fridge at around 8.00 and close it any time between 16.00 and 19.00. There is a rota so no-one has to do more than 1 or 2 days a week. If you live or work in Halstead and feel you can help with this project please ring or text 07808 547290 at any time.
