Queens Hall Information

The Queens Hall is a large community hall located at the top of the High Street. Ideal for dances, wedding receptions, childrens parties and for commerical hire.

Facilities include:
Main Hall approx 17.5m x 8m (4.2m high) - with tables and chairs available to seat approx 120
Kitchen Facilities, including oven, Induction Hob (with compliant saucepans), Microwave, Toaster and fridge 
Women's Toilets on first floor, Mens Urinals on the first Floor, Men's Toilet and Disabled Toilet on the ground floor 
Complimentary WIFI
Car Park has 13 marked bays and 1 Disabled bay 

There is also a modular stage and PA system that can be hired

Queens Hall Price Structure


QUEENS HALL, CHIPPING HILL, HALSTEAD, CO9 2BY

SCALE OF CHARGES FROM June 2016

Category A
Commercial hirers (any hirer who’s function is conducted for gain or reward for the benefit of the hirer or other commercial group). £31.50 per hour

Category B (i)
Non commercial hirers – Wedding Receptions and Private Parties. £20.00 per hour

Category B (ii)
Hirers whose function is for the benefit of a Voluntary Organisation, Public Body meeting etc.
Monday to Thursday inclusive £13.50 per hour
Friday to Sunday inclusive £18.00 per hour

Category C
Charitable Rate For Fund Raising Events (charity number required at the time of booking): £12.00 per hour

Category D:
Special rates approved by the Council on an individual basis for hiring’s where special circumstances prevail.

A DAMAGE DEPOSIT OF AT LEAST £100 IS REQUIRED FOR ALL BOOKINGS UNLESS OTHERWISE AGREED.

A £500 DAMAGE DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED FOR TEENAGE -25 AGE GROUP PARTIES.

Bands/Disco
If your function includes the provision of a band or disco please ensure that the time booked includes sufficient setting up and clearing up time. Overrunning your booking time may result in the loss of your deposit. (See * penalty charge on booking form) The hirer must remain on the premises until the hall is handed over to the caretaker.  Please note that pyrotechnics & smoke machines are strictly prohibited.

Regular Bookings Discounts.
For groups wishing to make a regular booking of the hall the above categories will be applied subject to certain discounts. If you are booking 5 or more dates at one time then please ask for further information. Any discounts must be agreed in advance and approved in writing by the Town Clerk.

Important Note - Use of Qualified Door Staff is required for Teenage to 25 Age Group Parties.
Please note that if you intend to use a person, or persons, in the capacity of door staff for your function, under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 they must be fully registered under the District Council Door Registration Scheme. The Town Council advise that if this regulation is not complied with you will run the risk of your function being cancelled without refund.

Halstead care home residents take birdwatch weekend to the ‘nest’ level

care home

Residents at a care home in Halstead celebrated Britain’s best birds as part of the world’s largest garden wildlife survey – and it was a flying success!

This year’s RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch saw residents at Care UK’s Colne View, on Dame Mary Walk, celebrate the best of British birds with some exciting avian-themed activities.

Inviting along pupils from St Andrew’s Primary School for the celebrations, both residents and children enjoyed a visit from Birds of Prey Rescue, giving them the opportunity to get close to some of Britain’s most magnificent creatures.  Everyone enjoyed the special ‘show and tell’ session, where they were able to learn more about our feathered friends.

Putting their baking skills to the test, residents and pupils also made their very own edible bird nest cakes, which were enjoyed while reflecting on the exciting day.

Razvan Stanbeca, home manager at Colne View, said: “Residents love taking part in nature-themed activities here at Colne View, and we had a lot of fun celebrating this year’s bird-themed event with help from pupils at St Andrew’s Primary School.

“Animal therapy can be extremely beneficial for older people – especially for those living with dementia. Being close to animals can help lift a person’s mood, stimulate social interaction and ease agitation. Connecting with nature can also encourage happy memories and the associated emotions.

“I’d like to say thank you to Kala Dowsett and John Dowsett, from Birds of Prey Rescue and the pupils from St Andrew’s Primary School for joining us and making the day so special. Everyone certainly had a fantastic time celebrating the best of British birds!”
